“I’m a maker/builder/designer, super crazy about fusing protocells, smart materials and robotics together to try to help better the good in the world (e.g. BioDynamic farming), and to fix what really needs to be fixed–(like plastic pollution, acidification).”

"I’m a violist and a frisbee player. I’m also an avid learner of earth science, especially the physical and chemical aspects of oceanography, and how that affects our rapidly changing world."
Andrew Ji
"I am interested in the Ocean and aquatic environment since I was young. I have visited aquatic museums where I observed the history of ocean life. It brought me to a thought that I want to keep this world the way it was like in the beginning."
Angelina Ye
"I want to discover and promote more efficient, sustainable ways of reducing plastic usage. To begin my journey in achieving this goal, I will begin a plastic fashion project."
Jordan Sadan
I enjoy playing volleyball and piano. I’m interested in using my creative outlet to bring attention to the growing problems in our environment. I’m working on research towards green chemistry to remove plastics in the ocean.
Megan Li
"I am interested in helping to keep the ocean and the world clean. This is because if we continue to treat the Earth as we do today, it will be gone before we know it."
Anna Hansson
I plan to major in industrial engineering. My project revolves around solving the issue of plastic pollution in oceans by creating a companion robot that can detect and collect plastic.
Ananya Devanur
My project revolves around using statistical modeling to analyze and predict trends of environmental problems concerning rising ocean temperatures as well as PET plastic elimination.
Chaitali Khapekar
I plan on majoring in neuroscience and bioethics. My project investigates the connection between humans and the ocean, to look past the beauty of the ocean in order to focus on all the harm that is being done to it.
"I’m an athlete- a basketball player. The same passion and drive that I bring to the court, I bring to save the ocean. Coral bleaching is not just of saving coral; rather, it is about preserving and cherishing the oceans and the Earth."
Yusuf Zahran
"I love designing and playing video games. I believe that gamification will help develop the interests of the younger generation on marine and educate them more about the current state of researches."
Taylor Jiang
"I play the piano and viola, am involved in competitive archery. I am currently experimenting with different varieties of algae and am involved in preserving the coastal areas by creating an underwater village to restore underwater life."
Sindhu Yaramosu
"I want to connect graphene to the ocean and the future of life on planet earth. The ocean and so many species within it are endangered due to trash and acidification. I think with the help of graphene I can build a nuclear submarine that take energy from the trash and use them as a fuel."
Daniel Ju
"I love to run-- it makes me feel very free! So I know what it must be like to be a dolphin or an orca, being able to swim so free and fast in the ocean. But orcas are disappearing and no one seems to know why. My goal is to save them."
Siya Shah
I’m a rising senior here in GEMS Metropole school, Dubai. I'm concern that high amounts of pollutants in the ocean is killing living marine organisms. Excess nutrients entering a body of water, either through natural or human activities, can also result in hypoxic or dead zones.
Sanjana Raju
I'm from Dubai, I am researching extreme ocean and river weather events and how they are a threat to all life and what we can do to prevent them. These issues are vital to today’s society as water born illnesses could have drastic repercussions all over the world.
Akilesh Nalluri
I am a golfer and a percussionist. As I follow the path of my sport, I seek to try and modify the human engram cell and remove the neurons that give humans the satisfaction from their addiction. I'm also studying marine microbes who are small but mighty at capturing carbon.
Yida Wang
I am a tennis player and an artist. I am interested in ecology and using new technologies to help preserve and save the environment. I hope to use the newly discovered plastic eating bacteria to eliminate plastic( PET) waste products in the ocean.
Jonathan Ye
I am a dancer and I love turtles. It is very unfortunate that the population of turtles are going down, mainly due to the amount of plastic in the ocean. I am designing an underwater autonomous vehicle that can reduce plastic waste in the ocean.
I play basketball but I also think about how to feed the planet. So I started baking cricket flour from eatchirps.com and made chocolate chip cricket cookies. I want to expand into water-based bugs that have not been considered in a mainstream way as viAble protein so I can feed the world.
Zach Zhang
"I am interested in helping to save the ocean. My favorite part of the ocean is how deep and endless it seems; that no matter how far you dive you always find something new, but now the deeper you dive the more trash and plastic you find. And I’m trying to do something about it.
Leon Zheng
I play tennis and bassoon. I think it is important to save the ocean and I want to help the orcas, because they are mysteriously disappearing! I want to know why. I am going to be an ocean detective and solve this mystery.
Helios Hong
I am from the city of Cairo, Egypt. I love to play football. And I also love the ocean. I know the ocean has problems and is a little sick. I want to make it better. I think I have a way by using magnets to gather up all the plastic!!! I’m going to try and build this!
Omar Adam
I love playing golf, researching space and our blue beautiful Oceans. I am working on a solution to keep the runoff water clean. Runoff water is where the water mixes with the nasty chemicals and then goes into sewers and streams which eventually goes into the ocean. I want to stop this problem!
I love sculpting. I am very much
interested in art, crafting, science, and crash testing. I want to solve the problem of dead spots in the ocean by stopping the nutrient runoffs and growing the algeavores.
